Single Sign On Plus

What is it?
Today, there are so many applications, email, secure documents, partner web sites, company Intranet sites, remote access dial-up networking etc that require a user identifier and accompanying password that users cannot remember each login credential. So, they either write it all down in a book or stick a post-it note on their screen or keep an identical password for each application. Either way reduces security but the user has no choice. Until now that is!

Single Sign On Plus (SSO Plus) is an easy to use, flexible password management product. It provides the user with the ability to access all applications on their desktop using a single user ID and password. After the user has logged onto their PC, they can access password-protected applications on their desktop without the need to enter any further credentials. SSO Plus learns the logon credentials of each application started on the user's desktop. When the application is next started, SSO Plus will automatically enter the required logon credentials. There is no need for users to write down the logon credentials for each application; no need for password synchronisation and it encourages the use of strong passwords. SSO Plus reduces the administrative workload incurred by resetting forgotten passwords and increases productivity by removing the need for multiple logons.

Key Features

Increased Productivity
Once installed, SSO Plus makes the working day so much simpler providing users with effective and seamless access to their applications. There is no longer a need to remember or write down the passwords for each application.

Ease of Deployment
A single file needs to be run on a workstation to install the product. There is no central server to administer. There are very few configuration parameters and if the defaults are acceptable, no further input from the user is needed. The tool is configured by default to work with all supported application types (eg. FTP, TELNET, Lotus iNotes and Internet Explorer applications.) It will start learning passwords and working for the user immediately (and on Windows 2000 and XP without the workstation needing to be rebooted).
The process of learning passwords for new applications is automatic. There is no need to run any tool to teach SSO Plus about new applications and their passwords. The user simply runs the application as normal, entering his credentials where required. SSO Plus automatically detects that a login has been performed and prompts the user to see if future logins to that application should be automated. If accepted, the application and the user credentials are added to the SSO Plus database for each time that the application is subsequently run.

Cross platform compatibility
The same SSO Plus installation program will install and work on all Windows platforms - 95, 98, NT, Me and XP. Once installed, the administration and day-to-day working practice is also the same throughout.

Flexible Administration
The end user performs the administration associated with SSO Plus. This is very easy to use and for the majority of administrative tasks is automatic. It empowers users to manage their own SSO applications and reduce the administrative overheads associated with multiple passwords.

Security

Users no longer need to write down their passwords, as these are stored automatically in the system. All managed passwords are stored in a local, encrypted database, which is configured for either DES or AES during installation. NT authentication is still required to the desktop before the database can be accessed.

The benefits gained from SSO Plus extend well beyond the convenience to end users. Employee productivity is boosted, with less time spent logging into multiple applications, and security is increased as users tend to memorize one password instead of keeping a written list within close proximity. Also, IT resources can be designated to other projects as calls to the help desk to reset forgotten passwords are eliminated.
