Webthority provides controlled, and granular
access to any HTTP or HTTPS content servers. Through
a proxy connection, remote users make a connection
to the Webthority Proxy Service, which then accesses
the actual content server on behalf of authenticated,
authorised users. Defender Webthority can use
the Defender Server and tokens for strong authentication
content or digital certificates can be used to
authenticate users remotely over a network before
allowing access to Web pages.
To deal with the stateless nature of HTTP browsing,
Webthority provides a session management mechanism
that enables session life and inactivity timeouts,
a session being from the point of authentication
to content to the point of termination, life expiration,
inactivity expiration, disconnection or logout.
By simplifying and centralising the control of
access to valuable information,
Webthority reduces the cost of managing security
in heterogeneous, distributed Web server environments.
Its advanced architecture provides comprehensive,
secure control of critical data by handling user
identification, authorisation, and access control.
Administrators can configure and manage the proxy
server and authentication server from a single
Web console anywhere on the Web with the Webthority
central management server.
