CS MIMEsweeper for web enables organisations
to apply content security policies to Web uploads
and downloads and can be implemented by organisation,
individual department, or individual user. It
provides comprehensive Web Content Security that
can not be provided by isolated use of URL or
AV technologies.
CS MIMEsweeper for web now has access to an extensive
database of URLs (optional plug- in) that can
be used to block access to certain categories
of Web site, providing 40 categories that together
contain more than 689 million Web page references.
However, URL blocking alone is insufficient to
protect an organization against the many threats
that may be present in Web pages. When an employee
accesses a Web page that is not specifically blocked
by a selected URL category, WEBsweeper analyses
the contents (of the web page) against the company’s
security policy. It works in real-time, and is
concerned with what is being downloaded from or
uploaded to the Web. The content can be scanned
for viruses other malicious code such as ActiveX,
Java or HTML scripts. This is all done in the
context of a defined security policy that can
be specified down to the level of a user group
or individual.
Content Security is not just about e-mail, Web
access also increases the exposure and vulnerability
of organisations to similar threats plus many
other Web based content security threats (including
web-based email accounts like Hotmail or Yahoo).
