Digital Pathways and Emerging Threats Inc Announce Partnership

Data security specialist Digital Pathways and Emerging Threats Inc, the vulnerability and malware provider, have this week announced their partnership. Digital Pathways will, with immediate effect, be able to provide and install the Emerging Threats Pro (ETPro) product to its clients.

With data loss a now daily occurrence governments, public bodies and businesses – in fact anyone holding data of any kind - can no longer ignore their responsibility of ensuring data is stored safely.  But increasingly, these bodies are taking a pro-active stance and searching for any likely malware before attacks happen.

“Emerging Threats Inc’s industry-leading team of malware and vulnerability researchers are hired primarily from the security open community,” says Managing Director of Digital Pathways Colin Tankard. “They maintain strong partnerships with law enforcement and intelligence agencies to allow Emerging Threats Pro to address the most critical threats on a network. That is why I am particularly pleased to be able to add them to the Digital Pathways family of data security products”.

Emerging Threats Pro is the commercial ruleset based upon and supporting the emerging threats open source community.  It covers all the vulnerabilities reported and discussed and, in particular, malware where botnets, spam crews, and more are continually tracked. It provides a full coverage ruleset for Snort 2.4.0 through Snort current, as well as the recently launched next generation open source IDS/IPS engine Suricata.

Adds Tankard, “ the current market offerings tend to be very slow and are, quite frankly, not fully up to the minute with the many new threats emerging now or, indeed, the developing technology.  Emerging Threats Pro however, is bang up to date and offers added value elements such as being Suricata optimised, malware focused, CnC/Exfiltration focused, has community intelligence and support, is hardware and platform neutral, has complete major vulnerability coverage,  operates known bad IP lists,  offers IP reputation, 24x7 Email  and phone support to name a few!”

Says Mark Peters of Emerging Threats Inc, “ Until now there has been little or no competition in rulesets and intelligence.  Emerging Threats Pro has changed that completely. We have fundamentally altered the landscape of the IDS/IPS ruleset market by offering customers operating a variety of IDS engines a choice.

“Up to now, unless you were active in the Open Source community you may not have been aware that anything other than the obvious offerings existed.  Now, by partnering with Digital Pathways, we are about to show the market that a superior product is most definitely available.”
